Sadhus {ascetic or practitioner of yoga (yogi)} are widely respected in India, especially the rural country side. There goal in life is attainment of liberation from the cycle of death & births (as Hindu’s believe). Yoga, now a worldwide growing phenomenon has its origins in Hinduism. Other later Indian religions like Buddhism & Jainism also have some element of Yoga as part of them.
India is home to number of popular health centers where yoga is part of the medical treatment and care.
